Sylvia Young Theatre School Marylebone building sold

30th March 2011

The famous Sylvia Young Theatre School building in London where stars such as Amy Winehouse and Billie Piper trained has been sold.

The school, which can also count Emma Bunton and Denise Van Outen among its ex-pupils, moved last year from its previous Marylebone site to a converted church building in Nutford Place, W1, due to a demand for extra space.

Its former site has been sold to education group Alpha Plus which plans to use the Rossmore Road property for a special needs school.

The asking price for the building was £3.75 million.

David Coskie, of commercial property consultant Wright & Partners, which was involved in the sale with Knight Frank, said: “The new premises at One Nutford Place have provided the Sylvia Young School with exceptional new teaching and rehearsal space, whilst the school on Rossmore Road will provide the Abingdon House School with more space than their present school premises.”
